FreelanceThis page features some of the other groups with whom I play regularly. For those that have a website, each listing includes a link. If you are interested in booking any of these groups, you can contact them directly (though I'm always happy to pass a message along).

The Spotlight Band is a fantastic dance/variety band, with a deep and ever-expanding songbook. This band plays weddings, parties, corporate functions — any event that needs great music. Unlike most "cover bands," The Spotlight Band welcomes requests. Full of outstanding musicians, this band can play anything. You'll see what I mean if you take a look at the songlist online — literally, anything. If you want to get people on the dance floor, or if you want to hear your favorite rock, motown, swing, metal, hip hop, pop, country, jam band ... whatever song, this is your band. |

The Jubilee Hot 7 plays traditional jazz — the jazz of Louis Armstrong, Fats Waller, King Oliver, and other great artists. From the early jazz of the 1920's and 30's to Duke Ellington to the revivals that have sprung up since, this group finds the gems in the jazz tradition and polishes them up again. With a frontline of trumpet, clarinet, and trombone, a traditional rhythm section featuring great piano and banjo playing, and entertaining vocals, this group recreates the beauty and fun of early jazz. |

Sapphire, like the Spotlight Band, plays a wide variety of covers. This band has a little different sound, though. We also play requests on top of having a very deep book of rock, pop, motown, jazz, funk, country, and other songs. This band plays weddings, parties, corporate events, fundraisers, and so on. It can go from light "background" music to full party mode in the course of an evening. |

| The Ultraphonic Jazz Orchestra is a big band with a big sound - and a library full of ambitious charts. The tunes range from swinging standards to transcriptions of Metheny and other contemporary favorites. Leader/drummer John Akal calls great sets that feature the group's fantastic soloists, and every tune features the dynamic rhythm section and powerful horns. | ||
I've played with several big bands in Denver, and I've recently been playing with the Elevation Jazz Orchestra. Composer Aaron Walker is the leader of this band, and does some of the arranging. This band is playing a series of swing dancing events in the dining room at Dazzle (9th & Lincoln in Denver). Look for these swing dances starting in March 2009, the first Sunday of every month. |
